Husband Appreciation Day

My husband Tony is sick with the flu today. That’s a bad thing. Silver lining is that it has made me keenly aware of how much this man does for us every day. Most days I get dressed, down my breakfast, grab my coffee and lunch, and breeze out the door.

Not today.

Wake up Alex. Get her breakfast. Get her settled.

Feed the cats. Let the dog out.

Start to get ready to get in the shower. Stop getting ready to get Alex’s hair brushed, maked sure she has her homework and stuff, and kiss her out the door. (Phew! Grilled cheese day at school, so at least I didn’t have to make her a lunch!)

Get myself showered and dressed.

Head downstairs and realize I don’t have time to make myself breakfast. Put on some coffee while I make my lunch. Skip breakfast, grab my lunch, and–Oops. I should probably let the dog back in. Crap. He’ll probably want water, too–rush out, a full 40 minutes past my usual leaving time.

Life is so much easier when you have a great partner. I sincerely hope everyone finds a partner as great as mine. And I hope he feels better soon.
