Vicarious Cat Blogging

Well, after working almost 2 hours late tonight, I still had to bring home two manuals to edit. That wasn’t going to be so bad, though, because it would give me a chance to try out my new (used) TabletPC that I got specifically for editing. See, I have to edit in hard copy because splitting your focus between the screen and the keyboard can make you miss about 1 in 3 errors, on the average. So I print out the manual, mark it up, and then have to copy my markups into Acrobat to email back to the tech writers. The tablet PC will let me write markups directly on the screen.

A two hour task reduced to 45 minutes! And no dead trees! Go, technology!

And then Acrobat refused to save the firetruckin file. And refused to save it the second and third time, citing issues with document signatures (which I’m not using–I checked). Looks like I’ll have to reinstall, and possibly upgrade, because I think the writers may be using a later verion than I have. Crap crap crap crap.

Oh well, at least I’m getting significant kitten help. She’s currently sitting on my hands and chewing my fingers. We finally named her Shiraz: because she bold and adventurous, with a slightly fruity edge. And whiney. Tempest has the pictures on her blog. They are amazingly cute, especially the kitten kissing the dog and the Garfield and Nermal shot.
